Avian AR740 Wheelset

Our roots run deep in BMX, proven at the highest level on the Olympic and World stage by the fastest guys and gals like the current Elite World Champion, Simon Marquart. At our core we’re a group of ride-everything type of folk and this all-road wheel represents our weekend warrior mantra - “Built to Thrash and Haul Ass” - The AR740 is our version of a swiss army knife, fast on the road, and takes all the abuse you can dish out on the single track. Whether you’re contesting King of Sprint sectors at the Belgian Waffle Ride, carrying your cow patty covered rig up the hike-a-bike at the Rock Cobbler, or shredding the single track on your local Sunday brewery ride, this wheelset will handle whatever you’re willing to throw at it.

The rim | - Made from Toray T800 carbon fiber, the AR740 gravel rim is designed function first with a 24mm wide hookless-bead internal. The wider internal will give increased stability for the use of 32-45mm tires, but also makes it fairly effortless to run a tubeless setup by just using a hand pump, without the need of a garage compressor to seat the bead (unless you’re having a bad day, then you’ll probably need the compressor ;). 

The Hub | -  Our rear hub, with 150 points of engagement, was originally for BMX with gate starts and fast acceleration out of corners at the top of the priority list. Tested and approved for the 2000+ stand start wattage demands of BMX Elites, the driver has 3 pawls, each with 6 teeth that remain almost always engaged inside the hub. The driver is easily removable for service + interchangeable between Shimano, Sram, or Campy Ekar (by request) setups. 

The wheel | - Our wheels are laced with bladed aero spokes and brass nipples as a nice finishing touch to complement our coastal San Diego roots where ocean corrosion can be very real. The concept was thought up over pints at our favorite local watering hole, Rouleur Brewing, with the idea of creating something all of our local buddies could rip. Our BMX rim, the Venatic, has been a staple on the track for years so it was quite seamless to enter into the Grav world, our second love to BMX.
